Design
Fundamental to the design of DynaWell® L-Spine is the idea of achieving a high level of patient comfort, while enabling enhanced imaging of the lower back. The invention itself was made by a group of physicians at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, who also documented the medical benefits scientifically.
In 1999, DynaWell®'s design team received a prize in the Design Awards Competition sponsored by Ny Teknik, the leading technical magazine in Sweden.
JURY MOTIVATION
DynaWell® L-Spine represents a new method for compressing the spine during X-ray. Back injuries often result in long-term disabilities. The ability to see, with precision, a naturally compressed back in the horizontal position during computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging can offer a considerably better diagnosis than with the current methods. The device embodies a well worked-out and functional design based on carefully selected material, with professional colouring.
